Dutch graffiti artist ZEDZ creates sculpture with youth group

Dutch graffiti artist ZEDZ came over for a week long residence with a group of young free runners from Accrington Blaze.

He helped them design and build an obstacle for a performance they are currently working on.

The young people had input throughout the entire process, and the results are amazing.

Austrian Workshops

We returned again this year to the Austrian town of Bad Ischl, to hold a series of workshops with school children and young people from throughout the local area.

Workshops were held in Breakdance / Street Dance / Photography / Graffiti / T-Shirt design / Leather Crafts.

Alan Turing puppet for Manchester Day Parade

We worked with two puppet makers and three youth groups to create a puppet for the Manchester Day Parade.

It was decided that we would creat a puppet to celebrate Alan Turing’s centenary.

Through consultation with all three groups, the design that was chose was Turings compter, the BIG BABY.

Each group helped create the puppet, and a group from Anson Cabin in Manchester joined the parade on the day.

Custom Graffiti Boards

Once again we will be offering you the opportunity to commission your very own piece of graffiti artwork.

Last Christmas we created over 200 pieces as gifts for people.

You can choose any name and any three colours, our artists will then create a unique piece for you on either a

60cm x 120cm board or a 30cm x 40cm board

Both make amazing Christmas presents for any age!

Large boards are: £25 Small boards: £15

You can place your orders at our exhibition space in Piccadilly Place.

Oswaldtwistle photography project

As part of a project linked to the cultural olympiad that celebrated the textile heritage of Lancashire. Photographer Scott Kershaw worked with a group of young people to document local stories and people associated with the old mills in the area.

The resulting images and stories were pasted on to a derelict building to create a huge mural howcasing the young people photographs.

Giant puppets

An exciting new series of projects for us here at Spearfish. Working with an international artist, puppet makers and various schools. The students research the country of the artist and come up with ideas to reflect their culture. Puppets are then designed, built and created by the students and artists.

Blaze Festival, Accrington

We worked with Accrington Blaze to produce a one day festival, showcasing local bands, a skate/bmx/scooter competition, parkour demos on a piece of equipment designed by Dutch artist Zedz, free workshops and classes.

It was a huge success and will surely be repeated in 2012

Severn Vale Housing mural

We were asked by Severn Vale Housing Association to work with their residents on the creation of a mural. Having recently purchased a site for development, the hoardings around the site were in need of brightening up. Over 4 days we transformed the site, with local kids and young people helping to paint the mural.

The finished mural was a great success with an amazing amount of positive feedback from the residents.

Trading Cards

Working with years 7 and 9 of St Ambrose school, our artists helped them creat a trading card game.

The basis of the project was to find a way to introduce the ethos of the school to new students, as well as helping them to interact between peer groups by playing the game.

The project was a huge success, with the cards being printed and a set given to each new student.
